Why we started
Proof of Life began with a missed phone call. One of our founders' mother lived alone and had a fall — she was fine, but no one knew for six hours. Existing safety apps felt like tracking devices designed for fear. We wanted the opposite: a quiet ritual that says "I'm okay" before anyone has to ask.
What we believe
- Care, not surveillance. Your location is shared only when you miss a check-in — never in the background.
- Boring is beautiful. Safety tools should be invisible 99% of the time and unmistakable the other 1%.
- Your circle, your rules. You decide who knows what, and when.
- Free where it matters. Anyone should be able to check in on the people they love — paid plans unlock breadth, not basic safety.
Where we are
We're a distributed team across Stockholm, Lagos, and Toronto — engineers, designers, and a former emergency dispatcher who keeps us honest about what "alert" really means.
Backed by people who get it
We're independently funded by a small group of operators from Calm, Headspace, and Life360 who wanted a kinder approach to personal safety. We answer to our users, not advertisers.
